About how much time do you put into each page of this comic? It takes all of a few moments to read each segment of it as it’s published, but I would imagine it takes a lot longer than that to plan it out and make it happen.
This is pre-published… right now, I’m juggling my time between school and a lot of things. When it was done, however, it took 8 hours to pencil the page (on full-sized sheets (16 inches tall), 5 hours to ink, 4 hours to letter, 8 hours to color. I had a team of inkers, colorists, letterers, working with me (paid by Donning.) For Coyote, I’m doing everything (which is why it’s so laggy and delayed — I have hired inkers but when things happen to them, the fallback inker is me) and it takes about a week (40+ hours) to get an episode script, then 5 hours to pencil (simpler layout, fewer panels) and another 2 hours to ink. Lettering is done with specialty programs and takes around an hour to set up and make look nice (lots of word balloon moving and going “ARGH! Too big for the panel!”)
I know it’s 25-30 years ago, but think back to the early to mid 80’s…
CompuServe CB simulator (Lady O)? MOC (Magnum Opus Con)?
Ya knew me as GreyWolf.
Would love to chat, but see no direct way to contact you via this website. Gonna try to look you up elsewhere too, but I’m surprisingly inept when it comes to social networking (I don’t Facebook, Tweet, text, etc…) so I’m not sure how much luck I’ll have.
I’m gonna try though!
Btw – I still have that copy of Coyote you sent me with Greywolf in it! My frame of fame!!! ;~)
I don’t know if you’ll see this since the original posts are old, but I was ‘dreamer’, I remember the old group from channel 23 and would like to get in touch with grey wolf, Mel and anyone else who might like to reconnect. Brings back a lot of memories from the past, both good and bittersweet/sad ones.
Hi Mel, I wrote you a note on FB messenger, I no longer use Facebook but saw I could send a message without having a FB account. Look forward to hearing from you.
Alright, Mel. I’ve just managed to read through from the beginning. This is some incredible work you and Bob have done together (a shame he’s gone). I’ve gone from the beginning to here within a few hours and the protagonists have already grown on me in such a short space of time. Not to mention that the story is told well, the art is phenomenal for something that wasn’t done digitally, and I’ve gotten quite a few of the jokes told throughout what I’ve read so far.
I already have a few favorite moments, but to list a couple, I’d have to say that I particularly enjoyed when Mallory, quite literally, tore down the 4th wall…twice. xD His hysterical reactions to the tarantulas earlier were pretty hilarious too, although I was a little sympathetic for that loveable, greedy dragon during those moments as well (I’m arachnophobic myself, so I imagine being in the middle of a stampede of over 80-thousand tarantulas would be like a taste of hell for me – poor Mallory). It’s been an entertaining read so far, and I look forward to another update as soon as you’re ready, willing, and able (with all of your personal stuff going on, I imagine you’re far too busy to update right now).

Mel,
Stumbled upon this and it brought back memories.
