I-in under the wire. It's been a good week but a busy one. Also, you guys get an extra tidbit. This didn't fit in the narrative, and it slowed the flow of events down too much so it didn't make the cut. But I still have this exchange in my head, and I thought I'd share it with you all. 🙂
Omake (extra) during/after Panel 1:
Garreth: Beatrice. Will you do me the honour of being my wife?
Beatrice: *shocked* ....I! YES! No. Yes!
Garreth: *laughs* So is that a yes?
Beatrice: *impulsively hugs Garreth, also laughs* Definitely a yes, but- I don't understand- *draws back slightly*
Garreth: *still grinning* This can't possibly be a surprise.
Beatrice: Well no, but. I mean, you're a king. I figured you'd have an arranged something or other, or maybe marry for an alliance or- Well, you know, kingly stuff. I'm just a woodcutter's daughter.
Garreth: I'm marrying for love. I'm marrying you.
Still loving all these details (the treeees, oh my god, their hair is absolutely wonderful!), but OH DEAR GOD, GARRETH, NOOOOOO. This is going to end so so terribly and I cannot WAIT to see it! 8D

Adorable! Both the comic and the omake version. Beast is such a sweetheart. Also, I adore the workmen in the background – they give a nice touch of levity to counterbalance the impending tragedy. Because there’s definitely going to be one.
Thank you ^__^ Yep, I’m kind of eying the oncoming plot and flailing a bit. So yes the workmen serve to give the audience info, but also to cheer me up! XD;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Of course, now the mad scientist in my head is busy wondering what kind of history that family had to have “tentacle monster” as a reinforceable recessive in their genetic code. Time to go chasing through the mythology to see whether I can find an Andromeda-type who chose to stay (and breed) with her tentacled captor…
I agree with Cleflink regarding the workmen in the background of the wedding scene – they do add a much-needed touch of levity to the whole thing. I mean, we know it’s a trainwreck, the listener (Bastian) knows it’s gonna be a trainwreck, and really, you need that little touch of humour to just lighten the edges a bit.
