I mean, the moorish Sultans of Granada hired Christian Knights in Spain as their personal Guards since those where Loyal to the death and had no connections to the court. People seem to forget what they have in common and only remember what they are different in.
An excellent counter example is he Emperor Saladin. His forces clashed with the Christian crusaders, notably under Richard the Lionheart. Despite this, he deeply impressed his enemies with his sense of honor and courtesy, and is remembered as a sterling example of chivalry rather than as a villain.
